Damper on duct installation is very crucial. The first thing you should consider is the furnace to make it possible for you to find the perfect location to install the damper. Then, you have to consider about the type of damper you intend to apply. If you want to use electric dampers then you need to have suitable electric source in your house.

How to Install the Duct Damper

There are some items you need to prepare for the damper installation include cordless drill, tin snips, wire nuts, safety glasses, aluminum duct tape and 22 gauge or 18 gauge wire. Here are the steps you need to do for successfully install the duct damper.

  • The first thing you should do is measuring the length of the duct and mark it. Then you need to cut the duct by using the marker.
  • Next you should remove part of the duct. Cut out the duct section that you intend to install with the damper by using tin snip.
  • After that you have to re – attach the cut section that you previously remove.
  • Place the damper between the two sections of the duct that you have cut before and then install it.
  • Put a junction box and install it over the electrical wire available on the duct damper.
  • Follow the instruction of the manufacturer’s wiring by using a proper source of electric.
  • The next step is securing the damper. You can do it by using sheet metal screws available on each end of the tool. Then you have to seal the seam by using aluminum duct tape with good quality and the duct damper is ready to use.
